EMBASE database
EMBASE is a bibliographic database that has particular strengths in the areas of drugs and toxicology. The database contains more than 18 million records, of which about two thirds of the articles include abstracts. An Athens username and password is required for access.

The Cochrane Library is a group of databases providing a collection of regularly updated systematic reviews on clinical treatments and interventions, to aid health care decision making.

BMJ Clinical Evidence
Owned by BMJ Publishing Group Limited, BMJ Clinical evidence is an international resource that provides systematic reviews, summarising the current knowledge of the prevention and treatment of clinical conditions. It describes the best available evidence from systematic reviews, randomised clinical trials and observational studies, and notes where there is a lack of good evidence. However, it must be noted that it doesn’t claim to make recommendations or to be regarded as a set of guidelines. Requires an Athens password. TRIP Database (Turning Research into Practice)
The TRIP database is designed to answer clinical queries using the principles of evidence-based medicine. Its contents includes Cochrane reviews, Clinical Evidence, Bandolier and over 100 generalist and specialist peer reviewed journals as well as guidance, electronic books, patient information leaflets and images.

British National Formulary (BNF)
The electronic version of the BNF, which provides information on the prescribing, dispensing and administration of medicines and is, designed to provide guidance on the selection of medicines. It requires free registration in order to access the latest edition.

Formerly known as DrugInfoZone, it provides timely and relevant information on medicines and support prescribing to the NHS at the point of care. This is part of the National Library for Health (NLH).

MeReC bulletins
Provided by the National Prescribing Centre (NPC), it provides information clinical and therapeutic topics and is distributed free of charge to GPs and pharmacists in England and Wales. It is a reference tool that aims to inform both GPs and pharmacists on current prescribing practice.
