Map of Medicine
What is it?
The Map of Medicine is a clinical knowledge resource providing specialist information to evidence-based clinical pathways.
Why is it a good resource?
Content is provided by a large team of professionals, including doctors, nurses, scientists, editors, clinicians and NHS advisors. Feedback can be given on any page and will be considered as part of the review process.
Patient options and pathways are shown in an easy to follow chart format which allows the professional to visualise all stages of treatment. It also provides detailed information on each stage and an option to search the National Library for Health.
What does it contain?
- Intuitive interface allows browsing by condition from broad to narrow, e.g. Mental health > mood disorders > depression > depression – specialist assessment
- Also searchable by condition or clinical presentation
- Updated quarterly for up-to-date evidence-based knowledge
- Multi-professional content based on patient’s pathway rather than profession so relevant to nurses and AHPs
- Ability to add personal notes and administrative information (e.g. referral letters used in your Trust)
- Healthguides version available on NHS Choices allows patients to view a simplified version of Map of Medicine
