Christmas opening hours

The library’s opening hours for the Christmas period are as follows:

Monday 21st-Tuesday 22nd December: 0900-2100
Wednesday 23rd December: 0900-1700
Thursday 24th December-Saturday 2nd January: Closed

The library reopens at 0900 on Monday 4th Janaury 2010

Summer Opening Hours

The library’s opening hours are changing for the summer vacation. From Monday 27 July to Saturday 5 September 2009 inclusive the opening hours will be:

Monday – Friday 09.00 – 18.00
Saturday – Closed

Normal hours will resume from Monday 7 September

Library Early Closure

Due to industrial action on the London Underground, the library will close at 8.00pm on Thursday 11^th June.

NHS Evidence

The new NHS Evidence service, which has taken over the functions of the National Library for Health, launched on 30th April. This will be a web based service, combining information from a wide range of sources into a single portal. It will incorporate many key features of the National Library for Health, while at the same time improving its functionality, More information can be found at Resource of the Month.

Current Awareness – Swine Influenza

Bank Holiday Closure

The library will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May.

We will reopen at 09.00 on tuesday 5th May.

Upcoming Cochrane Library tutorials

Wiley InterScience will be running a number of tutor led online tutorials on using the Cochrane Library throughout May. Details of these can be found at the Wiley InterScience live sessions website. Note that all times given are Eastern Daylight Time (BST -5). For users in the UK, the times are:

Easter Opening Hours

The library will close at 9pm on Wednesday 8th April and will re-open at 9am on Wednesday 15th April. Should you require access to the library, the following sites will be open at certain points over the Easter period:

Hammersmith – Thursday 9th April 9am-9pm; Tuesday 14th April 9am-5pm

Cochrane Library tutorials

Wiley Interscience, the online publishers of the Cochrane Library, provide free online tutorials for users in the use of the various Cochrane resources. These tutorials are either instructor led “webinars”, which usually last between thirty minutes and one hour, or individual tutorials that users can work through at their own pace. The list of upcoming webinars can be accessed from https://wiley-interscience.webex.com; the self-paced tutorials are available at http://www.interscience.wiley.com/tutorials.

Imperial College e-journals

The A-Z list of electronic journals of the Imperial College library website has been upgraded to provide a greater degree of information. Now, in addition to the URL needed to access the journal, links have been provided that show the journal’s abbreviation, ISSN number, what titles it used to be known by, and the availability of the full text. All of this information is available by clicking on the button next to the journal title.
